Grange Pups
Morning Grange’s Grange Pup stand is a centerpiece of the Johnson County Old Settlers Days, held annually in downtown Olathe in September. Over three days, Grange volunteers sell several thousand Grange Pups, securing vital funds for their scholarship and service programs
- Creation: Conceived in 1948 by Alta Harra and Audrey Busch as a fundraiser.
- Recipe: The Grange Pup’s batter recipe remains a closely guarded secret, the result of countless hours of experimentation. Its uniqueness distinguishes it from typical corn dogs or fair foods.
- Guardianship: Harra and Busch were not just the creators but also stewards of the Grange Pup tradition, mentoring subsequent generations in the art of preparation and frying.
